ABOUT
When launched in the 1990s, TheHUMp unleashed the musical potential of RealAudio 3.0. We hosted streaming RealAudio songs from creative, inspired, yet unsigned musicians at a time when music downloads often took a painfully LONG time over a dial-up modem. The music on our site would stream a RealAudio signal over a 28.8 modem, quite a feat at the time. The music hosted on our site no longer streams, but with a good connection, it downloads within seconds. TheHUMp hosts complete songs, and we are selective of the artists we feature. We don't post "excerpts" or "samples." New submissions will be encoded as mp3 files at 128kbps.
If you like what you hear, read about the artist(s) while you listen. You can also check out many of the personal home pages of musicians on our site. We will link you straight to them. Enjoy!
There is no denying the potential of the web for finding new
ears to hear your music. If you already have a home page,
that's great! But it does not hurt to have your music posted in a
forum where you can gain exposure to a new audience. For the
first time in over a decade, TheHUMp is reopening submission for our
website. We don't use a form, and not every submission will be
accepted; as we will decide who we include on an artist by artist
basis. There are no fees involved. If you have what it
takes, get your music OVER THE HUMp!
If you already have complete songs hosted elsewhere, we will be more
than happy to share a link without our normal screening process.
